This holiday is not only celebrated in Mexico, but grows in participation and enjoyment each year in the United States and around the world, perhaps because it is a celebration of spirit.

Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day, but instead commemorates a Mexican victory in battle against the French.

The Mexican army was outnumbered, ill-equipped, and poorly armed, yet, they won this particular battle against incredible odds. It was a battle won through courage and spirit!

To join in the fun, decorate (and wear, if possible) red, green, and white (the colors of the Mexican flag), make (or buy) some Mexican food, play festive Mexican music, and have a great time!
